The NextGen Acela trains, as Amtrak calls them, are faster and lighter than the current fleet. They're scheduled to start revenue service along the Northeast Corridor on Thursday.

Too bad they don’t have dedicated rails which they really need to be able to reach their full potential.
Sorry but, this angle on the cars that just ends at the locomotive is going to ruin them for me forever 🤣
Thanks Biden for the Infrastructure Money!!
All prepped up to carry domestic terrorists throughout the Eastern seaboard
Thanks Biden
Thank you, Joe Biden
Update: Trump cancelled them.
Biden would be so pleased
I hope they’ve arranged for President Biden to be the first passenger. What am I thinking? Corporations are bowing to trump if they want to stay in business. Guess that would keep them from publicly thanking Biden.
Thanks Joe!!
"Revenue service" Let's read that carefully, shall we?
We're kind of in the middle of having our democracy being trashed by the people you're writing about, thanks.
When will they be available in District 12?
It’s actually fast enough to qualify as fast train (according to 20 years old standards). Let’s hope it is a start of real change. Trump is not going to rule forever.
Eh. The Trump administration will probably delay them or shut them down completely, because they might be something good that came out of a previous administration
Funded in 2016 under Obama. Sean Duffy acting like Trump is responsible for this project.
At last at long long last we have high speed rail. Now build them everywhere and fast
Nice try! How about some Shinkansen trains? It’s 2025! Or that big oil muzzled you too?
Every other industrialized nation in the world has a better rail system than the US.
Thank you Democrats officials!
They're just gonna get decommissioned for trump's railroad deal to switch to trains that burn "clean coal"
Great infrastructure result! Question is: Will 🍊 et al find a way to trash it?
@juanjo-ld.bsky.social FYI
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social @chastenbuttigieg.bsky.social Pity you didn’t get the opportunity to ride this new train. ✌🏼❤️
@joemygod.bsky.social FYI
If porn has taught me anything, this train design is not common in Europe.
Haaaaaaa! It’s good to be culturally aware!
The man loves ice cream (and also trains).
supposedly the chump admin is looking at replacing them with coal-fired alternatives
Don't stop at Union Station in DC.
Didn’t realize they go 10 mph faster than the older ones.
Perhaps some can soon be added to the Pacific Coast Amtrak routes. Or don't Easterners consider those of us on the West Coast worthy enough?
The northeast corridor (and east coast in general) effort long precedes Duffy. This ball has been in motion for over a decade and, at least where I live, got a boost from the infrastructure legislation under Biden. I believe efforts have been made to claw back funds that would be used to 1/2
build a modern bridge over the Potomac River that would complete the express connection btw DC and Virginia, and thereby link the northeast corridor all the way to FL. I believe it'll be dedicated track, unimpeded by freight trains (currently a problem). Expect typical speeds well shy of 160 mph.2/2
As someone who hopped freight trains as a homeless traveler I prophesize disaster. The tracks aren't designed for more speed (Scamtrack uses regular freight tracks) and plenty of people already get hit by regular freight. You already don't realize a Scamtrack is coming sometimes, this'll be worse.
People don't get it, the entire infrastructure has to be changed for bullet trains, you can't just plop that shit down on the freight tracks, and there needs to be special designs to make dedicated tracks that avoids calamity with cars and pedestrians. The US is not built like China and Japan.
Not a Shinkansen bro. It goes 10 mph faster that the previous. Mostly amenities and better cars.
Thanks, Joe Biden.
Not as fast as the ones in China
