Couple of side notes- I’m just old enough to remember Apollo 13 (I was eight.) and we were glued to the TV.

Jump ahead to about 1993/94, I’m in grad school doing research on NASA’s predecessor agency, the NACA, at the NASA History Office. I go sign in and the name or two above mine, from the day before, Jim Lovell. Missed by one day!
