Was planning to open the shop for a bit, but the US has suspended their 'de minimis' exemption that once applied to all orders under $800. Which means buyers from the US will likely face additional fees upon delivery. Hoping for a taco because two years of no holiday sales would suck 🙃
I hope the “buy local” trend we have seen emerge increasingly applies to creators. I will definitely be buying prints, pins, and zines by Canadian artists for all upcoming birthdays and Christmasses.

The US makes up the lion's share of my sales. They're the best. Feeling for all Canadian small business that sell year round, it's been a roller coaster.
Yeah, I dunno. It's bad for us in the US, but I hate that it's having such a huge impact on small creators (and people in general) outside the US too.
I am getting TACO vibes from it because the tariffs weren’t dipping the markets enough anymore, but de minimis has. If not, we’re all in it together as it’s cancelled for all countries 🥲 concerned for the business, but I also feel bad for how spendy everything will be for americans now
I’m holding off on my paintings too coz of it. I’ve seen some Canadian marketplace places pop up recently; idk how good they’ll be but perhaps it’s an alternative? Selling some is better than none (if the goods are already made).

There's no world where I don't just eat whatever fees to grab art from you but I do hope this stuff makes folks in the US carefully consider their votes in the next elections to say the least. My day job is in shipping logistics and it's getting rough out there.
