This "there won't be elections" sort of doomermism strikes me as profoundly pointless - it engenders a sense of hopelessness in your friends while accomplishing nothing against your foes. I am very close to just blocking it whenever I see it, because it does nothing but aid the fascists.
The unfortunate reality is that the situation is, in fact, hopeless. Sure, maybe we'll get Putin/Assad rigged elections instead of no elections, but I think you'll forgive me for considering that a distinction without a difference. POTUS clearly considers himself king, & intent on ruling as such.
The us is hard to centrally control. And their democratic political culture is much deeper ingrained. The dice are very much still up in the air.
