Obviously these fellows aren't real intellectuals in any meaningful sense of the word and that's the point I want to make here: journalists and academics need to stop treating Deneen and Rufo like they are members of the guild, when they're not.

Maybe we need to accept they are in the guild if we can’t kick them out without all the money and influence circling to protect them under cover of “open inquiry.” The guild is rotten. It insists you open our mind wide enough to let your brain to fall out so they can fill it with tripe instead.

They are the same that think Plato's Republic or Hobbes' Leviathan are ideal forms of governance. They are unserious.
