A little Info about how registration is determined in Texas. Your registered party is determined by which Party's primary you voted in for the last primary. We can change which primary we vote in. GOP has always voted in DEM primary. 2008 they voted Obama over HRC. 🤣 that backfired on them.
Worth noting GQP primary last time around was tRUMP vs no one, so significantly less participation in their primary - as you correctly state, there’s really no “Registered” anything here, but voters can only participate in one party’s primary

Registered has meaning - U have to register to vote. Most would probably declare Independent if asked. GQP has gerrymandered extensively & practiced every legal form of voter suppression, but zero evidence of manipulation. I’ve lived & traveled all over TX; it’s Red & won’t flip any time soon
