On some Reddit spaces people are saying that Sabrina’s album cover and her overall image caters to the male gaze and that it’s tired. Some other people are critical because the cover could be reminiscent of DV.

That first criticism is so bizarre to me because that cover seems so deliberately unsexy to me. I don't think it caters to anyone's gaze, it's way too bleak and flat and awkward to be erotic. Maybe that's why people are uncomfortable with it?

I think the argument is that it fits the male gaze because it shows a woman in a “subservient” position to a man. And that it’s shocking for the sake of being shocking. I kind of understand where that argument is coming from, but I feel like I don’t have the ability to “pick a side” in this debate.

Given how serious the subject matter is. I don’t really listen to a lot of Sabrina Carpenter either. The only song of hers I’ve repeatedly played was Nonsense. Her new song does remind me of the hit songs from her recent album. I personally don’t really mind the song because it’s fun enough.

Idk, I've never been able to get into Sabrina Carpenter, and her current music sounds exactly the same as everything else she's released to me.
