How am I constantly doing things yet never actually getting anything done. A mystery for the ages.

I got a lot more done when I was working. Now that I’m retired I don’t seem to accomplish much.
Sounds like me. The morning was productive. The afternoon sucked. Couldn't get Audacity to record, spent over two hours trying to get to. I've given up for now. Son will be home maybe he can figure it out. He's mt live in tech support.
It’s an epidemic…
I ran “eat the elephant” types of projects. Frequently mid-way my hard-working hires would despair. They could see the work piling up faster than they could deal. I pointed out they were exactly where I expected them to be. Sure enough, the elephant got eaten.
Ditto. Also, I got home with energy to spare... highly motivated and made a terrible mistake. I thought "cup of tea, 5 mins sit down can't hurt...." big mistake, huge (paraphrasing Pretty Woman badly for the unmpteenseventieth time). Sigh .. 😕
Let me know if you solve this mystery.
College professor and a parent, a spouse?
Cook, eat, clean, wear clothes, do laundry, fold, exist, clean. It never ends.
Parenting?
Haha that’s part of it. But also work stuff where I feel like I’m constantly finishing components of a project but never the project itself
There’s always more shit at the bottom of the pile. Times when I feel like I’ve actually finished something are rare.
Get rid of things you don't need. Less is more.
Great advice! Thanks! Someone also said: Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. But, I can't remember who it was. 😂😂
When someone asks me what things I do for my job I come up with like 3, and then think, “I seem way busier than that.” Lol
Completion is overrated.
The endless march of entropy? Ugh. Can relate.
You have stumbled on to the concept of impermanence.
This! (Totally)
There's always more work.
