I used to be transphobic. I was transphobic because I was assaulted by a trusted trans woman. At the time, I was misanthropic because I’ve been assaulted by trusted cis men. The experience gave me PTSD. Insults and threats just made me seek TERFy spaces. 😓 Therapy is what snapped me out of it.

I'm glad you came around. As a fellow survivor of sex abuse I totally get it. It's hard to deal with the fight or flight response that gets set off without warning. It's much worse when it's someone we trust. Be kind to yourself and others.

No, quite the opposite. Hate crimes based on sexual orientation skyrocketed in 2015 after falling to all time lows in '13 and '14. In the US, when a minority group gains equality it causes them to be even more hated than before.
