I don't think AI is really going to make anyone obsolete…like, people like to use machine translation in casual contexts, but where it actually matters, human translators are way better. Same goes for illustrators—hard as people try, you just can't top the pros with a computer program.
I honestly don't think there's anything surprising about that, nor do I suspect it will change unless we all just lower our standards (speaking as a professional developer who knows a thing or two about machine learning). With the other two problems, though, I share your concerns.
