sorry i'm lost what is the difference between "transgender" and "transsexual"? i thought they were the same and one was just an older term

meanings shift over the years, but for the past decade or two of transfeminism, it's been this: transgender is when you want to have a different deal with respect to gender than the one society expects from you, and transsexual is when you want to alter your physical sex to better suit your tastes.
