It’s not silly or performative. These are tests and practice runs. If Dems win the midterms, MAGA is going to declare the elections illegitimate. They’ll ignore congress, deny funds, salaries, access to offices or just outright abolish congress. They’re preparing for a full dismantling of the US.
The military is not leaving DC, and they won’t let Ds take control of Congress or the presidency even if the win. The writing is on the wall.
I agree. Even if Rump dies today, the wheels have already been set in motion and too many are in positions of power and will keep the momentum going. The country is in big trouble and too many Americans are complacent.
When Trump is gone, there will be a huge splintering of the far right. Trump is the glue that is holding it together. No one else has the inexplicable sway over people that Trump has.

Perhaps. But the process will be extremely painful and destructive for the country and people. And there is absolutely no guarantee that democracy will win out or that the US will remain intact.
Whatever happens to Trump, I see a lot of chaos ahead. I have a feeling the chaos without Trump would be quite different than the chaos with Trump, but perhaps less deadly.
