Hah! I caught that one once by chance! But, they truly Screwed up! The green locos were for passenger service... The BLACK was freight. NS went first and took the green... NJT has the black!

How do you mean, like which colors they chose and the placement? I read this is a heritage livery UP did in 2008 to commemorate the 6 railroads that had merged in the 1980's and 90's?

Erie, like Many RRs had separate colors for freight and passenger service. (ATSF, NYC, PRR...) NS took passenger colors for a freight RR... And Erie Black would have blended in with their own.
