It literally saved them from bankruptcy. But between the jab at them in the LEGO movie and the absolute refusal for a proper revival (and the absolute downgrading of Technic Systems as a Lego property), you really can't tell if they like it at all, and IDK why.
Doesn't help that works the last two theme sets (Flying one then original planet one) they changed the materials for Bionicle Technic that caused massive breakage-- and refused to fix it till AFTER the series ended with the new build system with Hero Factory.
G2 was literally not advertised at all-- I had no idea it was even a thing until it had already been canceled after basically two themes.

Yeah! I have two of the Toa's from that first theme. They use the second build system that was Lego and Technic fusion... Sadly, LEGO botching G2 killed it after Toa's got their Nuva forms in the next theme.
How'd the botch happen? Bad design?
First off; 0 advertisement and 0 attempts to get the word out that G2 was happening. Causing theme one sales to be low which hit theme 2. Second; it rebooted the series to a generic setting and completely ditched everything from the previous universe. Story itself was super generic.
Third; They hosted event they had for Bionicle G2 got canceled right after its announcement and NO ONE got any of the prizing because of it. Fourth; They refused to release Makuta, the final Titan build making Theme 2's Mask theme incomplete and technically unfinished.
Fifth; Refusal to give make masks or make more past the general design for characters outside of the Toa's / the Toa of Creation. Same reason why they never released Makuta's mask as well-- nor the instructions to create the Titan after promising to do so. Sixth; They killed the Bionicle Site.
For context; this is what they didn't deliver on for the Titan combine build give or take.
