No, I think they realize the cult only survives as long as he does, so maneuvering for power is useless without the illusion of his aliveness. Delay tactics won't work. They need the figurehead. They need to pull off a "Weekend at Donnie's" or a "Moon Over Mar-A-Lago" to keep the cult engaged.
