The fact that no one tried leans toward Noah being correct. I don't think Newsom, Pritkzer, Whitmer, and Shapiro stood down simply out of deference to Harris.
I agree that a clean break would've suited the mood of the electorate better. The problem is that you would have to run away from your own party -- not just Biden, but the congressional Dems who passed his agenda.
