You mean enforcing immigration laws is a hallmark of a dictatorship? If that is the case maybe, you should blame congress for making the immigration laws and previous presidents for not enforcing those laws.

There are also ways of entering the US legally by submitting the proper paperwork and patiently waiting for approval.

There is a huge difference between enforcing the law and grabbing people with no probable cause. That's the distinction between law enforcement and thuggery. It's like the difference between propaganda and news.
