I seem to remember not having all the all the other methods of voting and the election system went fine. Of course, if they do revert back traditional methods, they will need to increase the number of polling places like they did back in the 80s when I was a young democrat.

Just because the election system went fine in previous decades, does’t mean we shouldn’t make voting easier. Some people have to literally travel hours to get to polls on election day. Mail in ballots would certainly be less arduous. Options also make it easier for the elderly or disabled to vote.

And how do we screen those who are not eligible to vote?

Studies from nonpartisan and government organizations have found the rate of fraudulent voting to be between 0.0003% and 0.0025% rate is so low that, according to the Brennan Center for Justice, an American is more likely to be struck by lightning than to impersonate another voter at the polls.

Impersonating another voter is not the issue determining every ballot is valid seems to be what is in question.

If you’ve already registered to vote, you’ve already proved who you are. Shut up you have no idea what you’re talking about.

I am registered to vote, and I don't mind validating who I am and making it more difficult for a fraudulent ballot to be cast.

Apparently a very slim piece of 1 % of votes cast being fraudulent is still worrisome for you. I doubt that making it harder to vote will get it to % fraud, (if it ever did before), but it will disenfranchise many people who want to vote.

It is true that very few people get caught committing voter fraud at the same time. I don't see anyone looking for it.

You have to register to vote. That’s when you prove who you are. So stop with this bullshit. I live in New Hampshire. I had to show them my birth certificate. I had to show them a bill that was mailed to my address and we brought our deed.

Agree @hopefordemocracy28.bsky.social. Those of us who've lived and grown up overseas have had to prove our U.S. citizenship by filling in the absentee ballot request forms, too.

Edit: With the correct information, such as our address, mark whether we intend to return to the U.S., etc., that is.
