No, the next presidential election will be in fall 2028 in any case (unless MAGA gets rid of elections before).

So lets think about this for a minute: Trump dies or resigns. The next in line is couch potato Vance. If he doesn't make it until the next regular election, and this is what I point out, the country has no government until the next regular election? This is what you mean? I highly disagree ...
No, please read the Wikipedia link I posted above. There is a long line of succession, but there can be no early elections.
Well, then #America is truly doomed ...
In that case, the next president will be the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. And if he can't do it there's another in the line of succession. The office of the President is the only one like this, by the way. Any other office - rep, Senator, etc - would hold a special election. Not this one.
How is this a #democracy? In #germany we recently had early elections. Not for the better, but hey. In #austria we had a regular election but the winner didn't take it all, thank goodness. Because everyone else didn't want to work with fascists. #America brought us democracy but failed to use it.
Again, it's the only office that behaves that way, as laid out in the constitution. And I think it's because it's the only office that is voted on by the whole country, as opposed to distinct regions, that the Framers thought that regularity and predictable elections were more important.
It should be noted that the people in the line of succession are all democratically elected as well. And this has only ever come up a couple times, and only with the VP succeeding the President, never further down the line.
