I'm curious peeps; which YouTube channels/vids are you nostalgic about? Commenting to someone about comments on vids, how they were formative to them growing up, made me ponder how much nostalgia I have for certain ones. The old Yogscast adventure maps vids in 2011-12 are nostalgic watches for me.
There's quite a few Youtubers I'd watch around the early 2010s when I was a child. Markiplier, Uberhaxornova, and Yogscast to name a few. Yogscast got me into sandbox games with Minecraft for example, and the other two showed me so many indie titles. I grew out of their humour and content though.

Zisteau for me. He used to be such an amazing Minecraft youtuber before he pivoted towards Factorio, Satisfactory, and The Long Dark as well as other projects. It's sad, too; he pretty much abandoned his single-player Minecraft series and his buddies in the Mindcrack SMP, and Mindcrack just resumed.
There was this Irish guy who reviewed Transformers toys around like 2009. He was really funny and charismatic, so it wasn't like you were just watching a grown man play with toys for 10 minutes, plus I think he was in a band and did some original music for his channel? Can't remember his name sadly

YouTube was my early exposure to memes, so that's kinda what I end up being nostalgic for... Y'know, Sparta Remix, All Your Base, Hotel Mario, Zelda CDi, What Is Love, Japan Break Industries... Gosh, in my late childhood, Super Mario Bros Z was THE $#!T xD Been there from the start!
Oh and, of course, I was SUPER HOOKED in the early Vocaloid and UTAU era, and this Absolute CLASSIC right here was my introduction to the whole thing! This song and video will always have a VERY soft spot in my heart~❤️
Hbomb's Bloodborne and Dark Souls II is genius videos are what I come back to over and again. I don't agree with all his points on DS2 but he was ahead of the curve on appreciating that game

Clan of the Grey Wolf - the 16-Bit Gems videos are still a fun watch and some of the later ones go into the history of RPGs and the Satellaview, which I'd not seen before. He also made a few videos explaining game technology which are still great.
So earlier this year, he was on an episode of Jeopardy. It was so wild to just randomly see him pop up again. Seems like he's doing well, just probably lost interest in doing the youtube thing.
Haha that's great, what a small world! Yeah I think during one of the YouTube monetisation crackdowns he said it was just a hobby so I can imagine he walked away if he wasn't feeling it rather than forcing content out, which I respect.
Ohh yes, I was actually going to mention their Earthbound vid. That and Video Game Years were some of the first gaming history content I watched on YouTube.

I'm not even sure where to begin here. I'll give a special mention to Spoony because even though he has been basically MIA for a while now I can still feel his style still be an influence in a lot of channels I watch. Including even what I make.
Yogscast Jaffa Cake Factory were the first YouTube videos I remember actively watching through, back when I was like 10. Still holds a special place in my heart. Otherwise, Green Ham Gaming was responsible for making me love tech as a teen and his videos have a great vibe (especially the WiiU one)
Used to be into Yogscast as a kid, but The Creatures were huge for me. Lots of good times in those older videos and it stings to see how it all ended up. Glad some are still doing well at least.
Ah, yeah. I watched Kootra's vids but was only peripherally aware of The Creatures as a group thing. I still think of "Gaben... Gaben... Gaben..." whenever xmas rolls around and him pulling CSGO knife skins.
Like very early Rooster Teeth, original 5 season of RvB and there was summer break where I would go to a friends how and we would play game and listen to their original podcast The Drunk Tank
I've watched tons of stuff over the years and I still follow some of them via podcasts and so on. I think I'm most nostalgic for the The Gamestation/Co-Optional Podcast with Totalbiscuit, Jesse Cox and Dodger. I miss when they occasionally talked about videogames
I used to watch early Game Grumps too and listen to all the remixes fans used to put out by the likes of JerryTerry, Atpunk and lilTommyJ and so on. I think those remixes make me pretty nostalgic for the grumps. Speaking remixes, Ocremix was a channel I revisited recently
Aww, yeah, those are part of my YouTube nostalgia too. The Gamestation's videos were all privated earlier in the year, so I'm glad the podcasts have been preserved.
The Laser Collection; its something that everyone had seen in like 2009, now no one seems to know of it. Part 2 and 3 were the best. I also remember pokemon music upload channels like BlueKnai and Dewgong7 from 2007 which i listened to music on in like 2009

There's a particular era of LGR as well for me. The older vids with the fuzzier camera and mic... yeah, whoosh, nostalgia hit.

Aww, I'll check this out. And yeah, that's one of the things I enjoy about the Wii Room channel that was translated and re-launched on the console last year. It's got an early YouTube vibe about it as it's all in SD and there are a ton of little community made shows to watch.

There was a sonic YouTuber in like 2005/2006 I really enjoyed. A kid recording a tiny tv in a very orange room. I distinctly remember him playing sonic 2006 demo and finishing with words "and yeah, guys. This is Sonic Adventure 3" leaving me with a false impression that it's good.

A good portion of early-mid 2010s Minecraft YouTube tbh. Sad that a lot of the creators from around that time fell off or stopped doing YouTube, but it still does make me nostalgic looking back on those older videos. Also Gmod. It feels wrong to bring up 2010s YouTube and NOT mention Gmod.
The original Jaffa Factory series when talking about Yogscast for sure. That was 2012 I think. I was just getting into Minecraft so it landed at the right time.

I didn't start watching Grumps until May 2015 when a friend mentioned she was enjoying their new Link to the Past LP. I checked it out in curiosity and was hooked right away. I went on a months-long marathon after that, watching huge chunks of their older vids. Very fond memories of that time <3

HelloGreedo's videos documenting the changes made in the Special Editions of the Star Wars trilogy genuinely dramatically impacted the way I see film as a medium and would have been one of my first introductions to media preservation. They're probably the reason I'm such a diehard media purist today
My other answer is a lot newer, I was there as they were coming out. Back when creepypasta podcasts were big my favorite was Undercooked Analysis. They did a series on Happy Appy and it was seriously one of the funniest things I had ever seen, but not long after the show fizzled out after host drama

X's Adventures In Minecraft, back in the days when we were all trying to figure out how to play the game and all the recipes were hidden. It was so wonderfully conversational, he'd struggle to figure something out and then open the next episode with, "so somebody in the comments told me..."
2009-2010 era AVGN (Board James is one of my favorite skit/series of all of YouTube) Rhett and Link (Good Mythical Morning) circa 2013 (their videos about their tv show Commercial Kings will always be some of my favorites. They’re how I learned who Chuck Testa is.)

Probably for me is Super Best Friends Play. Their weekend fighting game series was my favorite show and where I first heard of Capcom vs Snk: Mark of the Millennium which quickly became one of my favorite game soundtracks. That and Counter Monkey as that's were I first heard of TRPG's like DnD.

mine are lost to time,they were alot of early youtube animation and stop motion. there was the stop motion gi joe show created by the fine bros before they got big, there was the deadpool show animated which was with mugen, one of them was a marvel figure stop motion but i can't remember the name.

I get so nostalgic for Two Best Friends Play. The guys are all thriving doing their own thing these days, but the group channel was such a great feeling of friendship for me when I felt alone, and helped HOURS of university homework and studying feel way less draining.
Yeah, I totally understand. Game Grumps, and a channel called Unit Lost, got me through some rough times in 2015. I'll always be grateful to Grumps for giving me that feeling of friendship and just chilling with someone when I needed it.
