Interesting. Just by reading the post, I'm guessing there is a public list of root servers (or discovery thereof)? And to share without exposing an IP address, I'm guessing you are routing through one of those servers? If I'm completely wrong, please correct me! Very interested in how it works. :)

The github explains it best, but essentially yes. There is a config.json file that comes with the server containing some entry point servers. The servers handle file transfers and chats ensuring that two clients never speak directly to one another. github.com/SarahRoseLiv...

I've been wanting to build a network like this for decades and I was recently on bed rest and finally had a chance to sit down and play with it. Not to mention I think communication should be open and free

Long as I got you answering questions, what you think might be the toughest obstacle to getting even more people to use it?

Time and community, I need others to take interest or it'll just fizzle out.

Right now, probably experimenters and other developers. I'm hoping others will hop into help develop over time but we'll see what happens. Right now I'm the only one working on it

If you set up a server all the people who use your server will have their files and chat shared with all the other servers, they discover each other automatically and all clients connect over SSH in the background. By doing this you can build a network that cannot be easily taken down if it grows

Nice! I had a similar idea years ago but never put it to code.
