One thing that major news organizations need to learn fast but will never, ever learn is that if a public figure or their representative issues a statement that contains no true or useful information and only serves to advance their interests, you don't have to publish it
You don't have to go to every fight you're invited to
But what if publishing it furthers their own interests?
We almost had this moment of clarity in 2020 after Trump told everyone to inject bleach but that self awareness faded about two weeks after January 6
