It happens! If you're writing thousands of words you're occasionally going to get the wrong one! Or a typo. Or a duplicate. You're lucky you caught it! I had a then/than typo on my editing page for *years* before anyone noticed. Me included! And that's my job!
hahaha, nice! Yeah, mistakes creep in and hard soooo difficult to notice! My nemesis: feint/faint. Arg! Oh, and a reader just caught sheath (noun) with sheathe (verb) mistakes that I wasn't even aware of 🫣
Breath/Breathe is one I have to check every single time and I will avoid using it because UGH.
