At home I have 1000 mbps and it’s pretty well distributed in major cities, tho a lot of people probably would cap out at 100mbps. Still, ~300ms latency to the USA and Europe 😬

Yep can confirm your screenie shows faster speeds than I have at home! Though we get a free upgrade next month. When I moved to Oz I had no idea about the state of the aussie internet, and I had never heard of being capped. Found out the hard way! Much better now, but far from perfect.

I remember my 4G being better than the fibre when I lived in Bondi. The 5G was pretty great when I was in Sydney back in February. What I’d give to move back 😅 very jealous!

Rough. A few years ago I lived “on the wrong side of the street” — one had 100mbps cable, the other, ADSL that disconnected regularly 💀

lmao - not hard to imagine! I actually had to switch providers once because of faults and dropouts during rain, we were told the connection to the pit needed to be replaced, with a wait time of 6 months. Went from ADSL to cable -> solved in one day with a speed upgrade!
