My British Gas Homecare renewal has gone up 31.6%. If only we had a government that would challenge this corporate greed!
The problem with all of this, is it is rife everywhere! Greed has gone up to another level in this country.
You can’t blame the Govt for how a privately owned company sets its charges. Just go what I did and switch to a local company at half the price. I’d rather see Govt focus energy on things within its remit.
I live in Canada. We have an energy control board, sets the prices on all energy based on futures on the stock market. The power company is government owned, and when the company wants to raise rates, they need to get govt approval. Its helped keep prices manageable.
For all oil and gas they set a product maximum price and all providers have to stay at or below that price. This week a litre of gas is $1.41 CAD.
We have a regulator that sets a price cap here for energy. But that’s not what this guy is talking about. British Gas Homecare are the people that come out and service your boiler/furnace and fix plumbing leaks.
You can blame the company for the profiteering, you can also expect a government to protect consumers and regulate
Yes, although rather than blaming the company just take your business elsewhere. Re regulation, it’s a fully open market and you have total freedom of provider choice so I disagree. Just as with any other free market product we all shop around and are daft if we don’t.
Concerning. Those are UK figures or US figures or where from?
Not to be rude but I guess you have access to Google? You could, as I just did, type in Google news and learn it is UK in about a second.
I usually tell people where a story refers to when I post, to save them Googling. I'm polite that way.
Or you can type a question in Blue Sky, wait 23 minutes until someone types it in Google News and gets it in a second and makes a smartie pants response like I just did.
It’s a ‘cost of surviving’ with TrumpleThinSkin at the helm
It’s just getting going.. tariffs, ICE, electricity rates, all affect food prices. And tariffs haven’t even fully hit yet. Higher unemployment and low spending might lower some prices but tariffs will permeate all the goods for sale.
It hasn't even started.
Would love for the media to go out to red rural areas and ask them to show receipts where their food bills have decreased. I was assured this was a “day one” accomplishment
Wow all this winning!! Where are the concerned magats concerned about the price of eggs and bacon! Hillary had the perfect word: deplorables.
Only this time it’s caused by idiotic policy and not a word shaking event
Hasn't even really started. Companies have been absorbing a lot of tariff prices but that's about over
We are about to go from crisis to catastrophe the likes of which we have never seen before.
I notice EVERY time I go food shopping !
I started planning meals and writing out a shopping list in the pandemic to minimise time in shops. Now I do it because of the massive increase to food prices. We are comfortably off and donate to local food banks. God alone knows how those who are good bank clients are doing
I'd say it's got at least another 3 1/2 years...
It’s just beginning
It is getting worse
"We've only just begun." - Karen Carpenter
Can't wait for WIN buttons to make a comeback.
Not according to Fat Donnie our fearless leader? LOL
Orange Taco owns this!
If a Democrat got in there and removed all these tariffs, would retailers lower prices? Or just pocket the additional profit margin?
Mortgages are down and inflation will be down to the target 2% by the end of next year.
I could see that. But, remember these will be trumps numbers not necessarily real ones.
This is the UK, not US
Sorry! The numbers will likely be similar.
Thank a republican

Costco is $35 for 5 pounds of beef, it went from $4.99, up to $5.49. One head of iceberg lettuce went from $1.99, to $2.49
WOW, where is that from?
Kroger, in Georgia
It has only just begun!
Food prices 4.9% ? Look at the packaging. Are you getting the same quantity? Shrinkflation is rampant, check out label.
Let’s not forget food shortages after ICE chased away farm workers responsible for picking this years crops of which reportedly half have spoiled in the fields and planting next years crops. These are coming to a grocery store nearby.
UK not US
American defaultism rising as well, it seems. When you consider they had 14 years to look at how to make sure their first 18 months back in power as painless and hopeful for the electorate as possible, they've failed on an unprecedented scale. Worst Labour government in my lifetime so far.
youtu.be/dHw3pYr6KM4?...
Based on my buying experience, these inflation numbers seem low. Everything is 10-50% more expensive than in Jan 2025
It’s only the beginning….
Wow, talk about fake news and lying to exaggerate things. You're not even close, you're posting numbers that is misleading and is called misinformation, like what Fox News does. Right now inflation is 2.7%, where the fuck are you getting 3.8%? usafacts.org/answers/what...
I head of iceberg lettuce jumped up to $2.49, I get 4 1/2 gallon of organic lactose free milk at Costco it used to be $12.99, just a few months ago, it jumped up to $16.49, avocado surprisingly are down, hamburger at Costco has been consistently at $4.99, it jumped up to $5.49 a pound!
Tesco profits up. Call it what it is, supermarket greed up, helped by climate change and NI changes that the media use as a smokescreen
Far from over? Its getting worse by design
Oh it's just starting to go up.
Supermarkets will increase profits, CEOs and shareholders will continue to prosper.
Trump’s economy - Trump’s tariffs; Release all the Epstein files Trump you felon!
.....and release your taxes. Or are they still under audit?
Could be in America son. Once our revised EU trading relationship kicks in things will improve. In the meantime shop at Lidl or Aldi who are not profiteering like the big bastard chains. 'Matching Aldi prices' is a con!
In America coffee prices are up 60%. At least at Walmart
Two biggest coffee suppliers to US? Brazil (50%) and Switserland (39%) thats ur trump tax. Here in Mexico? Coffee is around 6 a pound or less.
I’m in America, my coffee used to be 9.99 the can, it’s now 22.99 since trump took office
That’s an over 100% increase ! Crazy how people actually think he’s making things better bc the bird flu got under control a bit better and eggs prices went down slightly. Gas is still the same price it was a year ago…and people who see the truth are the supposed “deranged” ones
I remember when coffee was around $4 a pound in update NY. It wasn’t that long ago :)
How stupid does a MAGA have to be to not understand that food prices will rise if we run off all the migrant farm workers and tariff all imported food? A kindergartener could have foreseen this.
Let’s see how this works out. I suppose the billionaires will ship fresh fruit and vegetable to their tables from other countries - they can afford the tariffs prices.
It's a cost of profits crisis.
At least you haven't borrowed $37 Trillion dollars to end up with a less efficient Germany circa 1936. We didn't even get a new autobahn out of the deal. 👎
This should be a news flash on every cell phone. Kinda like amber alerts......
You lie! Eggs are 6000 percent lower than when Biden was president!
1.7% in Canada
Where are you getting these numbers from? I am not doubting them, I am just trying to verify, and I can not find them.
AKA misinformation and why you can't trust anything on the InterneT, inflation is going up, and the Fed is not going to lower interest rates unless if inflation is below 2%, the tariffs and the horrible big bill hasn't hit yet usafacts.org/answers/what... usafacts.org/answers/what...
Those are the numbers that I was finding. I know the BLS wasn't putting out AUG. numbers until Sept 11. I fully expect inflation to go up, but I just don't want to share numbers I can't verify. Of course, Now that Trump is hand picking BLS people, who knows if we can even trust their numbers.
