Isn't the caring for others part how you earn your way into heaven? Because that's what I was taught in Sunday school.

It is, but Christian nationalism isn’t Christianity. It’s cherry picked religious principles warped to gain control over outsiders. Use enough Christian sounding verbiage and you can fool actual Christians l.
