If you are doing Vidya, Linux isn't that bad. There a few games that can't support it but that's because the publishers are being fucking morons.

I've not used Steam but used Arch and it's a fine experience. Yes sometimes some games or software need to be tweaked with a command line.

But 99% of my experience has been either downloading and running the game natively or clicking on one or two drop boxes.

I will say that using mint with steam has been a breeze as long as your game is newer than 2014

I'm using Debian and it's been a breeze too. I haven't tried anything too old yet.
