I have this same theory, but because it's real. If a person is empathetic to a psychopath, they can pick up psychopathic traits. An empathetic person can get traumatized from hearing or seeing video of someone else's trauma. Ngl it feels like they're utilizing these weapons every damn day. 😕

I do wonder if it could be helped if society were more supportive of troubled young people getting mental health care earlier, including giving them praise for doing so. As much stigma as has been removed over the decades, there's still a lot. It creates a feedback loop of dysfunction.

Was just thinking about all the progress we've made the last several years educating different systems on Adverse Childhood Experiences and the importance of trauma informed approaches. Now we exist in a moment where all that is "woke" and words like "trauma" have been put on banned language lists.

Yeah, I'm reasonably certain my ex (abuse wasn't physical) had BPD; much of what he did/said matched the criteria in the DSM (caveat that I'm aware having a personality disorder doesn't make one abusive; mine just was).
