When the democrats had the super majority in 2008 they could have passed a law at least. Don’t settle for nothing

True, but Lucifer’s kid’s comment was about the constitution. Besides, 2008 was back when Republicans had most Democrats hoodwinked into believing even conservatives on SCOTUS would honor precedent.

And those SCOTUS nominees lied through their teeth about Roe being settled law. Now EVERY SCOTUS ruling will need to be passed by Congress (if they exist) because SCOTUS is corrupt.

Roe v. Wade was never settled law. Conservative justices purposefully created the impression that they would not overrule settled precedent. They lied.

My bad for a poor choice of words. I stand corrected.

I think your word choice was fine. The 1973 SCOTUS ruled (in Roe v. Wade) that states’ banning of abortion violated a woman’s right to privacy, which the 14th Amendment forbids. A SCOTUS ruling *should* be settled law, and like you said, the six traitors lied when they said they thought that too.

SCOTUS is extremely compromised! The six work for their rich masters, not for the American people.

They had a supermajority for 72 working days *and*, in what could only be a twist to anyone not alive today or then, not all Democrats in the Senate were pro-choice - and they needed all 60 votes there.

Oh, you mean when Obama was squandering his political capital on, what was it again, the ACA?

It is my personal opinion that we need to do less fighting amongst ourselves and also less blaming previous Democratic president's terms.

It seems like you’re agreeing with me but if you think we couldnt have gotten both maybe you should look up the phenomenon walking and chewing gum at the same time

Yeah, well, one of his big campaign promises in 2007 was that the first thing he would do if he was elected was codify Roe but once he had the opportunity, he weasled out of it by saying that he didn't feel it was a priority anymore bc Roe was not in any danger..which is complete bullshit

They had the super majority for about a month, not knowing that someone crucial to that majority was about to pass away and take it from them.

It happens. Since March 5, we’ve lost 3 Dems in the House: Turner, Grijalva, and Connolly. MAGA Abbott delayed scheduling a special election in Texas’s CD-18, a Democratic district, until November 4 to help Johnson retain his slim majority.

The Dems would have had enough votes to block the big beautiful bill if not for the members who died since January and then.

That’s correct. The average age of representatives is 57.9 years, while the average age of senators is 63.9 years. Once elected, they tend not to retire. An incumbent is hard to beat.

What else was going on in the world in 2009 champ? Does the great recession ring any bells?

The Great Recession was another Republican-caused economic collapse. Large banks which traded in credit default swaps were forced to declare bankruptcy when a large number of the underlying credit instruments defaulted at once, sending shockwaves throughout the US economy.

Not really. But the GOP keeps pulling the football away while Charlie Brown tries to kick it.
