“It’s not a gun issue. It’s a mental health issue.” Fine. Let’s start requiring a mental health evaluation before any gun purchase.

THIS!!!!! All countries have people with mental health issues. America is probably the only country experiencing mass shootings regularly though. Explain that one. 🤔

There are federal laws in place but like most laws they are only good if they’re enforced. If you have been committed to a mental health facility by court order or deemed a danger to yourself or others by a court order, you can’t buy a gun. State laws are stricter but again, only good if enforced.

Hmm, I don't like this idea, simply because they could deny people who aren't dangerous by twisted logic. I've had bad experiences with mental health professionals who tried to say that my spiritual beliefs were psychosis.

A person who thinks they need a gun may or may not be mentally ill, and they may or may not be right, but they are a danger to anyone close to them regardless.

unless they save your life - this country without guns would still be paying taxes on our tea and bowing to the king we have nuclear weapons because why? we want to kill millions? or we don't want to be irradiated ourselves?

We don’t have mental health issues in the U.S. That is why care for such things is difficult to come by unless you have great insurance. Otherwise, it is too costly for many people to get treated, or at least evaluated.

Good idea. Tho "mental health issue" is just a distraction GOP propagandists use to pretend they want to address gun violence. They consistently vote against funding for mental health. Of course most ppl DK that bc most media are Right Wing & only give a RW view. upine.medium.com/the-vast-rea...

Too many adults today have the impulse control of children. In the military, the drill sergeant gets in your face and teaches you the impulse control of an adult. That's important. That's how the military only arms minimally thick-skinned adults. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024...

There are generally signs of a “perfectly healthy person” having issues. They are small, bit they are there. You never know what is really going on within a person’s mind. There are healthy people who die from an undiagnosed disorder, die from a heart attack after having a perfect physical exam.
