If he dies now, he'll have gotten away with it all, and his followers will keep believing in him as a form of saint. My dream would be that he managed to throughly disgrace himself and go to jail as an old frail man for the rest of his life.

Personally I don't think any legal system is actually equipped and willing to prosecute him the way he deserves, so I think him going away now would be a great way to fracture his base without a solid heir to lead their cult of personality.
