Finished Season 1 of Babylon 5. I had a few people tell me to skip it but that's not really how I work and I'm glad I didn't. I'm sure some of this stuff is going to be important. I do wonder how they're going to deal with some of the plot lines knowing that Sinclair is gone is S2.
Hope you like Season 2. As a die-hard, often-quoting fan, this is where it starts. Props to JMS for writing Sheridan's entry in a way that makes sense. Sheridan's finale is so tied to that character's motivation, I really wonder what was planned for Sinclair as they're such different characters
I love B5 and strongly disagree with the people telling you to skip season one.

I think he was just crouching in most of his scenes.
Also, I HATE THE BIG MULTI-PACK DVD/BLU-RAY CASES. I think I'm going to buy one of these sleeve things and transfer them over. I literally can't get one of the discs to pop back onto the prongs and feel like I'm going to snap it.
Man, every time an unnamed bridge crew member speaks it's like they've never spoken English before.
That first season is so rough but it really does lay the groundwork for a hell of a ride. Reminds me that I gave up on some of the post-finale content and should give it a go again

I feel this pain. I got The Venture Brothers complete series on DVD as a gift, and damn near every single disc clip in the case was already broken when I first opened it. I kept the box, but each of the discs are in paper envelopes.
Agreed I got TNG on Blu-ray and they got like 4 discs laying on each other like that, it’s such a pain
i did that a while ago. i got a huge one of these and put all my DVDs and blu-rays and old playstation games in it and threw away all the cases. so much more convenient and saves a ton of space
They weave Sinclair’s absence into the bigger story in a way that makes sense, and the new direction adds some great layers to the show. Keep the faith!

I'm almost done with S5 (first watchthrough) and S1 is ALL setups for payoffs in the next 3 seasons. It's such a good ride. Keep watching G'Kar, by end of S4 he'd become my all time favorite sci-fi character.
jms is extremely, extremely good at writing a character and he was very good at picking out actors for them
He really is, I now aspire to be half as good as he is at writing characters.
