My new neighbor is going through a divorce and is depressed. He mentioned suicide on Friday bc of his loneliness. I listened. I consoled. I gave him a big hug at the end of the day and told him to call or knock anytime. I'm literally feet away. I can't look away. He's a kind, hurting man. 💔

The thing is, I suffer from depression and loneliness too. I had a down day yesterday. Holidays (family gatherings) are a trigger. I just kinda avoid the world. I texted him good morning today and apologized for not being present. Also, that I was thinking of him. Life is beautiful if you let it be.

We hung out for about 30 minutes tonight. We talked cars. He showed me his new LED lights. He thanked me for my texts. I just said, "I'm always here. For better or worse." We laughed. I'll sleep well tonight.
That's wonderful! Keep talking to him, text him, pop over sometimes.Talk to him about things other than his depression.This will let him know that he's not alone, he's got a real friend. I work with teens who have suicidal ideations. Sometimes, they just need to know that someone values them. ❤️🫂
That's what I'm doing. I make him laugh a lot. He's overweight and keeps falling in the river. Last week he told me that he put on a life jacket when servicing his jet ski, bc "this is what Kyle would want." Lol.
