A reminder for the more excitable Liverpool fans - Free Isak! No player will ever sign for you again! - that in the summer of 2017, Liverpool rejected THREE bids for Coutinho, released a public statement that he wouldn’t be sold, rejected the transfer request he made in response to that statement..

They’ve got very short and selective memories, that’s for sure. I must’ve missed them just letting Gerrard go to Chelsea with a smile and a pat on the back for whatever fee Chelsea offered them first time. Didn’t know that’s how it works. Oh well.

It’s the lecturing I can’t stand any more of. If you don’t know anything about your own club, can you maybe give it a rest with the nonsensical patter about mine? Half of them are just parroting what Romano tweeted - no doubt briefed by Isak’s agent - as if it’s an original thought.

It’s all he said she said with folk only believing what they want to. The only facts in the matter are that 1) Liverpool bid way below our valuation 2)we rejected their bid 3) Isak has acted like a cunt That’s it. Any guff about broken promises is irrelevant if it wasn’t written down

Yes, Suarez and Coutinho both thought Liverpool would let them go (Suarez even briefly contemplated going to CAS) yet both made efforts to at least keep the fans, teammates and manager onside: www.bbc.com/sport/footba.... Isak? Let’s just say a bit less so…

If we have learned form that, we’ll hold on to him until you come up with a proper bid, thank you very much. Coutinho went in January ‘18 for £120 mill guaranteed + £20 mill in add-ons, which was £30 mill guaranteed above Barca’s final August offer. So we’ll see you in Jan with £140 mill, aye?

A player is worth what the market deems he’s worth. Barca overpaid for Coutinho but then Coutinho didn’t go on strike. Isak isn’t worth £150M and won’t play for you so best to take £120M+ and use it to buy some players now. If you can find any that want to play for you, that is

That's not what you said, and where is this new offer? They paid more for a midfielder whos never played in the Prem, they sold a midfielder £142m a few years ago

Different positions but Wirtz is unreal. Just because Barca overpaid for a LFC player doesn’t mean LFC should overpay for Isak. At that time Coutinho was the heart of our team. I would argue Bruno or Tonali are more important than Isak at NUFC. I would take Tonali over Isak but FSG want a forward.

Wirtz is a very good player, but if you think he's worth more than Isak, a proven premier league goalscorer, prem team of the season? i take your point regards Coutinnho. As much as I love Tonali and Bruno, you need goals to win games. That's why strikers are worth what they are

You buy potential. Nobody can read the future. Isak might get injured next year or lose his mojo. Who would have foreseen Coutinho flopping so badly at Barca? 120M isn’t chickenfeed it’s a British record fee. It would instantly free your PSR burden to the tune of 600M.

Coutinho missed two games with a back injury at the start of that season which then cleared up quickly enough for him to play 20+ games before January. Look, at least try to understand your own club’s history before parroting stuff you’ve read online at us.

So it is exactly the same! If lfc want him they will have to pay over the odds (in your estimation) just as Barcelona did with Coutinho. lfc held out and released the player on their terms. I hope that’s what NUFC do. Come Sept 1st he will play again - it will be difficult yes - but he will. 😎

Did you see what Isak posted last night? Can’t see him coming back from that tbh. It’s a sad situation and I feel for NUFC fans. Club needs a structure and the owners have taken a back seat. Must be difficult but every club goes through shit times. Can’t take it personally. It’ll come good

It’s not REALLY the same though is it? We all knew Barca would come in for him. Knowing that, Klopp and Edwardes identified players they could bring in with the money and they did that. They had a plan. Newcastle have no plan which is why they are in this position. Nothing against them by the way

Okay Professor. I’ll leave you to your grief and frustration. Hope it all works out for you. I mean that. No LFC fan I know is taking any pleasure from this and certainly not at NUFCs expense. It’s a shitshow to be sure

They all do, however uneasily. It’s in everyone’s short term interest. See Suarez, Cabaye, Coutinho. What we can say is he almost certainly won’t be a Harry Kane and do two more seasons!

Best to mute them. Over-confidence mixed with utter cluelessness about their own club more than anything else. Not all Liverpool fans, btw - but there’s a large contingent of keyboard-tapping doylems.

Made clear through their manager that bids should have come earlier in te window, and even survived a “family friend” complaining to Sky Sports that “like Suarez and Gerrard have pointed out in the past…Liverpool does not let its players leave on amicable terms”: www.theguardian.com/football/201...
