True, but given the number of times my daughter has told us of some mistreatment by teachers/paras, only for the administration's biggest concern in that exchange (across multiple schools) to be why she had her phone to be able to report the interaction at all, I still think it's a bad policy.

(None of which is to say we shouldn't have some policy around phone use in the classroom, with emphasis on paying attention to the actual class, but I do not trust schools enough to let them ban or confiscate phones.)

I'm all for policy to address the distraction in a responsible way. But an outright ban would have left my kid in multiple traumatic situations with no recourse with people who sincerely believed they were helping her. That's not responsible. Always gotta ask: "how can this policy be abused?"

I don't expect to convince you, and neither of us is *making* this policy. I'm just trying to be heard in hopes that to the extent either of has a voice in it, we can speak with more insight to all of the impacts.
