Needless to say I am not paying for $800 in x-rays if nothing appears to be wrong especially when I spent $700 today on shots, exams, meds, and nail trim.
Yeah the rigging of prices at vets is causing people to not be able to afford appropriate care for their animals.
And some of them prey on anxiety. If there was an issue I'd do it but there hasn't been. I will probably get her the supplement she suggested but she was saying how I should get it from their office. The airhead tech at least told me after she left I could get it cheaper from Costco.
I really think that's one industry where they need to have more ethics about doing shit like this.
The clinic may have sent me a survey tonight. They probably won't like the response.
But honestly the more I think about it the angrier I get. They wanted to sedate her for X-rays alone even though she's showing no signs of pain or discomfort.
Oh also update on the supplement. I ended up getting it at PetSmart fifteen dollars cheaper. I did not get the exact same one they were trying to hock because it can be strong on dogs with digestive issues if they aren't used to it and is for dogs with extreme issues. Again if they read her chart or
even listened to me they would know I had stomach concerns. Also she was like you can get any joint supplement flippantly but suggested the one in their store. I took a picture of it yesterday and there was a difference. Also paw only went up today when someone rang the door.
I probably will go through with the tech appointment for her flu shot in three weeks. but depending on how the main practice reacts to my review may determine if I go back long term. At the very least I will be requesting a specific vet for now on.
WOW! Sounds like the up sale to me. I would be pissed, too.
The only thing that has me sort of concerned is she mentioned hearing a clicking noise but I am pretty sure it were her nails which needed to be trimmed. I did look at her bio after I talked to her and she's fairly recently licensed and worked primary in an ER vet which may explain some of it.
They also didn't seem to realize she has had all her shots and were like she just has rabies and the kennel cough vaccine I was like um no read her chart.
Few things will piss me off like a medical professional as any type, who *doesn't read the chart*!
Like I looked through their records before I handed them and knew what was on there. I they were just looking at the last entry which was an allergy shot. Shoddy practice in my opinion. I am really considering finding a new vet long term. I have to get her second flu shot in a few weeks but I am
pissed also seems like there were issues with Elsie's appointment as well.
That would be very concerning and would put me on edge for anything else they said.
Yeah if I go back I am going to request having the vet we had previously and not this one for sure. The only thing I miss about where we used to live was our vet there. They explicitly did not nickel and dime people.
There is a huge difference in rural vs urban vet practices these days. Many vet practices are being purchased by private equity firms which may influence outcomes.
Yeah Emory's precious vet was purchased by one which was why they went to this one which they recommended to me. I am wondering if they were bought out as well. Wouldn't be totally surprised though I do think this vet may have been a sub because of the holiday weekend.
