There’s nothing like being at a college game in person, either. I miss it. But damn, these days, I don’t think I could make it through the Purdue pregame and hearing the crowd say “I AM AN AMERICAN” without completely breaking down.

Gotta contextualize it as rebellion. I am an American in that my recent ancestors got in a boat from Ireland and came to the United States and worked hard, resulting in me, a first generation college graduate My best friend is an American. Also a Purdue grad, and the most American person I know.
His mom put herself through great personal discomfort and danger to make sure he was an American. She's an American too, and deserves the title more than most. I know what you mean, but those people do not know what it means to be an American and we can't let em decide it
I'm feeling dramatic
I love that way of looking at it. 🫶
