I meant more that it’s different from 90% of the people around you passively logging your location with pings off apps, server/internet/cloud stored data versus local hard drive stored, being able to turn logging on/off depending on where on the conversation happens. It’s just so different today.

It is different, but that isn't what this person is talking about. It's about the creeping rewriting of history on a social level to portray GenX the same as Boomers. We cling to the idea that older = bad with tech and we justify it by saying it's because "that" generation didn't grow up w/ it...

3 - the person, their curiosity and willingness to learn anything new instead of what was around when they were 12. Generational stereotypes overall need to be set on fire until nothing is left but ashes. They divide us and distract us from the real problems.

there's another thing: if you got into computers in the 80s and 90s, whatever age you were, you had very few options but to pick up some skills and intuition about tech everything misbehaved all the time, games wouldn't run if you booted your pc with the wrong xms/ems memory options and so on...

but that window was brief, kids who are growing up with smartphones now are at a huge disadvantage here as they were designed as black boxes, if something goes wrong, tough: reboot it, wipe it, buy a new one, those are your only options growing up with tech is one thing but what tech it was matters
