In the US, it's evolved into 'we're not the majority, but we should be the ones making the decisions'. The corpse of 'Tradition' get propped up on the battlements to juice up the numbers. If you count people from the 19th Century, most people think as they do.

Trans and race issues scratch away at them particularly because the whole premise 'someone gets to decide their own identity' galls them. It's a patriarchal, topdown process of strict categorisation, damn it. You're a Category 4, and Category 4 acts like this, you don't, so you're existing wrong.

Yeah, I've long argued (as a Christian) that the single worst thing about Christianity is that we don't really have "laws" (we've got two really simple ones!), but as a result Traditions have become our idols that eventually (and inevitably) cause the schisms.
