My great grandfather was a Swedish immigrant. My grandpa and his siblings (all born in the 30s) were all bullied in school for being Swedish. In all the nostalgia we forget that America used to suck even more than you can imagine.

Swedes were disparaged in many parts of the US in the early 20th century (Norwegians, too). Like the Irish, they had to earn their 'white' status in the US. Just further underscores the malleability (and nonscientific basis) for the definition of 'white'.

My grandfather emigrated from Sweden in the early 1900s. I never heard of him facing discrimination like I did my Irish great grandfather, but I'm familiar with Swede Hollow in St. Paul, and the fact that Swedes were looked down on, but by 1970, l thought that was long over.

Here is a 1965 letter that Ret. Lt. Gen. Pedro del Valle wrote to a young man who'd asked for advice on his plan to infiltrate the State Department in order to expose the deep state, Jewish/communist "enemies" who supposedly ran it. Del Valle, a coup plotting Hitler-lover, offered this advice.
