Chris Christie ran Trump's transition team in 2016 and contracted Covid from Trump in 2020 when he prepped him for his debate with Biden at which Trump knowingly exposed Biden to Covid. And this is the thanks Christie gets. You'd think people who choose to work for Trump would eventually learn.

Trump likely offered him a big reward. The access to power and the desire to be a special member of one's tribe is extremely strong in humans. It's not rational, it's emotional. Christie felt he couldn't say no. Maybe he's finally touched that hot stove enough.
