Very much enjoyed this conversation about, in part, how a historian of the founding era like me gradually morphed into someone who writes about the history of the far right in the post WWII-era PNW. As an added bonus you get to see my cat's tail smack me in the face a few times.

For example, I saw this on FB two weeks ago. Tom Paine never said this, but an anarchist who wanted to smash the state did!
Given the time in which Paine wrote, and the circumstances surrounding Comom Sense, this is pretty antithetical to what he was trying to do. But its catchy, for dummies who want to believe real Americans fight against a tyrannical government. But wait a minute...does that mean Trump is....
