Peter Thiel is the guy who made JD Vance possible as a political figure. His companies impact almost all of our lives and he's getting massive gov't contracts. He's also the sort of self-absorbed pseudo-intellectual weirdo you avoid at parties. Because power broke his brain. bsky.app/profile/seth...

I saw elsewhere that Thiel is giving some four part religious lecture at some instituion, and I can’t believe it wasn’t called, “What I’ve learned through my intimate, personal relationship with the anti-Christ.”

The MAGA elite tried to turn the "weird" talking point against the Dems. "Those elitists are calling you 'weird' for loving America & being a conservative." That rhetorical jujitsu worked with "deplorables." The way to counter it is to aim the "weird laser" at the rich & powerful, not rank and file.

Exactly! Hopefully it will work better now on someone like Elon. He IS categorically weird and he’s associated exclusively with Trump and we need to hammer that hard.

The people have the power to shut these clowns down by simply not participating in using their products. The people can’t seem to make that move however. They continue to Facebook and IG and every other thing because they “need it”. I will never understand this as I watch the ship sink.

Peter's brain was broken long ago - how healthy can it be for a gay man to make his name with virulent homophobia? In his Stanford Review days he was a twisted, hate-filled loner drawn to philosophy - i.e. already the kind of pseudo-intellectual weirdo you avoid at parties. Now he's that with money.

This passage, from Max Chafkin's "The Contrarian," describing Thiel at the time of his high school graduation, does help capture how broken – and absurd – he was even pre-power.
