I get this intellectually. It's just hard to hear, when the lady who's been cutting my hair for years (and is a cancer patient, while cancer treatment research is stopping in the U.S.) recites idiotic bigoted bullshit about "men playing women's sports" and tells me, "I feel sorry for you".
It’s like grieving a lost friend, who has gone into an alternate imagined reality. I’ve learned that I cannot change another person’s mind. The most difficult part of the Serenity Prayer for me is “the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.” I’ve learned to just get on with my own life.
