Capitalism developed & was a result of colonialism. It is about exploitation, plunder, and power. Colonialism grew out of the Western idea that non-humans are "things" and there to "use". This attitude expanded to non-white and then non-rich humans. Scientists "proved" some humans "inferior", etc

And they did. Dicken's novels describe horrific child labor/exploitation. One of the best things we did as a "Western civilization" was outlaw child labor. There are billionaires and the politicians they've bought who want to return to the glory days of 1850 where kids died in mines & factories.

Depending upon the age, children in Florida and other southern states are working night shifts and in the meat processing plants.

The child labour's laws are there because they did exploit children, until they were stopped. Unions were created because workers were/are being exploited.
