I wonder how much news about the civil rights movement that Southern newspapers suppressed. I remember hearing a tale of a Birmingham News boss squashing a news item that his advertisers would not appreciate. My fellow white folks worked hard to avoid seeing the truth.

I was a kid in the 60s but remember my parents glued to the telly. Dad was Shawnee/Creek. But it’s only in this last decade or so I get surprised by new pieces about racial atrocities. Ugh.

Your dad must have had interesting stories to tell. When I realized that Europeans had their ancient legends, but when they came here, they did not preserve Native American legends. (Some were busy committing genocide.) I hope the tribes have preserved the legends. I'd love to see a series.
