That is interesting. If everyone at all levels is a thief, why should I follow an illusory social contract which forbids thievery?

The thing to realize is that in a free society, laws are considered to be reflections of societal norms. Whereas in an authoritative society, laws are a reflection of one person's desire for power based on his/her opinion.
