I went to journalism school in the late 90s, early 2000s. You were taught there was no room for a backbone. You had to toe the company line and write what the owners of the paper wanted.
Yeah. I had a professor who did a journalism and public policy course in the early 2000s and she lamented that all of the media is owned by a handful of assholes who are setting the agendas for everyone globally. It’s depressing to see how that has played out.
I don't have a lot of things to brag about, but I am a published writer, and I can tell you very few journalists have the freedom to say what they believe. You're just a mouthpiece for your employer.
