Today, the world’s highest court, the International Court of Justice, puts big emitters on notice. Countries are bound by international law to protect people from the impacts of climate change, and governments must ramp up their efforts to transition away from fossil fuels.

Photograph of Mary Robinson, Member of The Elders, and first part of her quote: “Today, the tables have turned. The world's highest court has made it clear: governments must get into crisis mode to protect our right to a safe climate – and that includes reining in corporations and financial actors.” Second part of Mary Robinson's quote: “This is a legal turning point – one the global community owes to the Pacific and the world’s youth who brought this case to the Court. We now have a powerful new way to protect people from the devastating impact of climate change and to deliver justice for the harm already caused.” Final part of Mary Robinson's quote: “We are transitioning away from fossil fuels, and we need to accelerate to secure a safer, fairer future – today marks a major milestone on that journey.”

Governments remain the problem and not the solution. End all the extra work created by government compliance and you'll reduce emissions substantially. Rely on politicians paid off by polluting companies and you'll continue to be disappointed.

Not really, the new UK planning and infrastructure bill rides roughshod over everything ( including SSSI's) and probably everyone, any protest will get you jailed.
