Every single thing that I see people responding to with "don't listen to that fearmongering" is something ends up happening very shortly after, if not already in progress.

Desperately hoping for the day that people take a warning as a reason to make plans and preparations instead of ridiculing the messenger and being completely flabbergasted when the problem arrives.
